    Wing reflection for various aileron inputs

    ...Another item of interest is the aileron differential. I have found it best to use differential on the outboard ailerons only. The inboard ailerons should have zero differential for best handling qualities (IMO).
    A big question is how to find where to set the trailing edge. I use reflections to find the cruise position. I've been using this method on various planes for many years. The usual thing is to use reflections off of the upper wing surface to define when the trailing edge is tangent to the wing. This is actually quite easy to do. It turns out that the inverted V tail helps out with the reflections as it is good to use something that is at an angle to the hinge line to generate the reflections. See the attached pictures for reflections on the wing as viewed from various perspectives with some trailing edge movement. One can define the neutral point to within a mm easily via looking at the reflections on the wing and control surface...
    I am still sorting out the best thermal camber. I suspect that this is kinda like my Maxa and Snipe, the optimal camber will depend on the turbulence and thermal activity. I am showing two thermal settings, one of which seems to work for active and turbulent air (THERMAL1), and the other is for soft and gentle air (THERMAL2). For my programming, THERMAL1 is on a switch, and I get to THERMAL2 via using a slider on the side of the transmitter to go from THERMAL1 to THERMAL2. That way I can adjust in real time just how much camber I want to use.
    The value for the flap deflection for full flaps is not valid... The flap full deflection is about 80 degrees, and is somewhat difficult to measure via a ruler. All of the other measurements are mm vertical distances at the trailing edge. The flap and inboard aileron were measured at the tailboom location. The outboard aileron was measured at the inboard edge of the outboard aileron.

    PLUS Wing

     

    Airfoils and wing planform were optimized according to Reynolds numbers for the best thermaling and best wind penetration of an ultralight model.

    The wing consists of 3 panels: Center with one flap, then large wing tip with flapperon and aileron on both sides. All 5 servos provide airfoil changing. Flap and flapperons servos assist in air braking, flapperon and aileron servos work like ailerons.
    The Multi-hedral form insures perfect turning and straight tracking with very low pilot management.

     Full Rohacell core wing has integrating carbon shear webs and ultrahigh module carbon spar. Such unique wing construction provides unique durability and rigidity of the PLUS wing.

    Milled pockets for servo is intended for IDS foam frame. We can install IDS system for your PLUS wing. You need to make a choice of the servos only. For flap and flapperons we recommend MKS 6110 or KST X08H (for light wind conditions only). For ailerons we recommend KST X08H.

    Please additionally fix the servos to the bottom wing surface by carbon servo pocket strengthening.

    Wing wire channel is completely ready in the core. We have installed all wires and connectors in the wing already. 

    Milled pockets in the wing tip for the elevator servo is designed for KST X08 or MKS DS75K servos.

    The receiver is placed in the wing in a milled pocket due to all seven servos are also located in the wing. Fix the antennae with adhesive tape in the slotplaces in the fuselage.

    PLUS Windy Wing

     

    We are recommended to use surprisingly hard PLUS Windy for flying in windy and turbulence conditions. A significant increase of the wing strength added 50 gramm only to the model weight.

    We add a layer of longitudinal ultra-high module carbon to Carboline skin preform as an addition to the existing ultra-high module spar. In addition to increasing the strength of the skin, it has increased to 40% of the wing stiffness. Additional wing stiffness is important for improving model control during turbulence.

    We use high temperature and high pressure for unique technology of light PLUS wing joiner with prepreg of high strength carbon and with Rohacell core. PLUS wing joiner is the most critical point of construction that is why we have paid too much attention to it.

    PLUS tail boom is securely fixed in the wing joiner holes and on the central panel rings.

    It is specialy for pull/spring tail control system. 
    The horn has spring inside with loading about 300g/cm.This spring compensates for part of the load, coming from the elevator spring. Therefore, we can make the elevator spring double stiffer. 
    The horn spring load is almost constant, when servo move on +-45 degrees. This spring loading is almost same, like spring, which we use for Snipe2.
    Horn arm is 5.8mm. Weight is about 1 g for each horn. 

    We have left and right movement springs. what is why set consist of 2 horns (for both side). We recomend use this system for Plus and use two standard springs for each elevator.

    PLUS pod

     

    PLUS pod is laminated with the unique multilayer Carboline preform making it so light and strong.

    PLUS pod has snap fixed canopy. This canopy is the same as for the Supra PRO, AVA PRO, Sprite models.

    The motor is located in the nose part to ensure the correct position of the gravity center without additional ballast.

    The motor shaft has an additional intermediate bearing to prevent possible bending of the shaft at high motor rotation. Motor shaft with two bearings, spinner and motor fitting is 22 g only.

    The shaft guard serves to fix the ballast.

    Ballast PLUS weighting up to 550 g is quickly fixed and removed. It is possible to easily adjust the ballast to the required center of gravity.

    Airfoils and wing planform were optimized according to Reynolds numbers for the best thermaling and wind penetration of an ultralight model.

    Joe’s Wurts airfoils allow you to use flaps in a wide range from -2 to +7 degrees for maximum climb performancein thermals and minimized decline rate in float condition or speedy upwind flight. 

    The absence of the propeller in the nose is the main Plus advantage. It is greatly reduces the overall drag of the model and not only improves the wind penetration, but also improves climbing in the thermals. Probably, all the pilots noticed a significant deterioration in the flight characteristics of the electric plane in comparison with the glider (without a propeller in the nose).

    Unique fittings of the tail boom to both the wing and the stabilizer provide not only light weight and high strength, but also the simplicity of the airframe assembly. In addition it has only two screws for fixing the wing to the pod.

    The great advantage of opposite V-tail is the right direction of the rudder moment reaction.

    There fore PLUS rudder is more efficient. Beside, stabilizers are easy to fix to the tail boom and to each other by adhesive tape. Very light pool/spring elevator control system is very light and rigid enough.
