Maxa Pro wing
Maxa’s wing spar is cured at high temperature under vacuum. The spar flanges made in an autoclave from high strength carbon pre-preg are securely glued to the multi-layer web. We use high strength carbon fiber IMS 65 for the flanges.
The spar durability is improved by the use of balsa shear web. Balsa is more durable than any other material in this role. Placing balsa at ±45 degree bias not only improves it ability to carry shear load, but also improves the strength of the glue joint between the web and the flanges.
Additional layers of Spread Tow carbon improve the stiffness of the wing spar.
We build spars with two flange sizes:
- 9.5 mm wide - ultra lighter spar for Ultra Light versions;
- 11,5 mm wide - lighter spar for Light versions;
- 15 mm wide - haviest spar for Windy versions.
The XXI century design from Vladimir’s Model employs Rohacell for flap core, which results in amazingly lightweight thin wings of surprisingly high strength. Combination of high aileron stiffness and low weight eliminates flatter even at the highest flight speeds.
To build wing for Maxa, we use bi-axial carbon Spread Tow fabric of our own proprietary design and production, made of high strength IMS65 carbon fibers. The weight of this fabric is 38…40 gram/m², which leads to lighter and stronger parts.

Wing joiners
During flights of Maxa 4 with standard 5-degree wing joiners it was noticed that the model is very inert while maneuvering.
After flight testing of the model with different tip dihedral angles, we managed to find the angle, at which Maxa 4 ceased to be inert, was well controlled by rudder, but the model was not overmuch stable and “dense” on the course.
Obtained additional rolling stability makes model more secure when flying at a great distance.Maxa 4 with 7-degree wing joiners is now similar to Maxa 3.5 or Supra as for easiness of control.Now the Maxa 4 kit includes two sets of wing joiners with an angle of 5 and 7 degrees.You could also purchase wing joiners with an angle of 7 degrees for your Maxa 4.
Advantages of the ultra-stiff Maxa Pro El fuselage:
- The fuselage is attached to the bottom of the wing with 4 screws to facilitate the assembly—you don’t need to turn the plane over, after you plug the wing servo connectors;
- The wing structure is tied together with special shape nut, which is glued through the whole thickness of the wing. Such design better spreads shock loads of hard landings;
- The tilt fitting of the tail boom with the pod, in addition to the elegant appearance, greatly reduces the stress concentration at this location;
- Maxa Pro El is supplied with pre-assembled fuselage of two parts.The tail boom is assembled with the stabilizer pylon and pushrods is already installed .You just need to paste the boom by epoxy resin.
Maxa Pro EL tail servos are placed on the board under the wing. There is also a possibility of accommodation servos in the canopy area (that is why rods is so long in the tail boom). Servo board has additional servo horn supportwith bearing. More information about installing the servos,is in the instructions.
Canopy
Canopy is made of carbon composite. It uses reliable mounting latch design proven in many Vladimir’s Model planes: Supra PRO, Supra Electric, Blaster 2 Electric, Sprite, Graphite 2 Electric.
Maxa Pro tail boom
New elliptical shape Mach Pro tail boom is two times stiffer than the usual roundone.The tail boom is narrowed at the end to the thickness of the rudder for reduce aerodynamic drag.
The Tail Boom is made from thin carbon Spread Tow laid at +45 degree (1) and -45 degree (2) bias. Between the Spread Tow layers, there are 2 layers of unidirectional high strength carbon fiber (3).
The stabilizerpylonis gluedto the tail boom MaxaPro and the pushrods are installed already. Fin and stabilizer fitting are suitable for any Maxa Pro tails. The tail boom must be glued into the fuselage, putting on a mid-range gap (boom / fuselage) for right stabilizer/ wing position.
Maxa Pro stabilizer and Maxa Pro fin
Maxa Pro tail construction is Rohacell solid core covering of new ultralight Carboline 26 g/m². Carbon spars is laid to the slots in the core. Carbon rowing for the spars is pre-stretched and uniformly impregnated into the machine. The spar wall of Carboline is integrated to the Rohacell core.
Cone stabilizer/pylon fitting provide accuracy and high rigidity stabilizer installation. The elevator horn is aerodynamic continuation of the stabilizer pylon. It is screwed by two screws M2x10 when stabilizer will be installing to the fuselage.
The fin is fixed on the tail boom by rigid adhesive tape. The rudder rod is hidden under the fairing. Spherical rod ends for rudders and elevator provide high stiffness control system.
Маха Pro is a novelty of the 2014 year. It is based on the using of wings Maxa 3,5 and Maxa 4, well-proven since 2011. Great wind penetration and unique soaring characteristics of profiles and geometry of the wing provide perfect aerodynamics, developed by multiple world champion Joe Wurtz. Continuous optimization of wing design using the newest materials allowed to expand the range of wings from Maxa Ultralight for electric version to high-strength for version Maxa 4 Storm.
We, together with Joe Wurts, have developed an optimal aerodynamics new tail for Maxa Pro during half of year. There have been several custom made pilot models for proof of concept in flight tests.
Targets for Maxa PRO tail optimize was:
- Reducing tail drag,
- Increasing the controllability of elevators and rudder,
- Increase rigid of tail and control system,
- Reduction in the weight of the tail,
- Removable for transport fin.
To meet these ambitious goals , we have made a new elliptical shape tail boom. Stiffness of the beam is increased by more than 2 times and the weight is increasing just of 9% only. The tail boom is narrowed at the end to the thickness of the rudder for reduce aerodynamic drag.
Construction of the fin and stabilizer is construction of Rohacell solid core covering of new ultralight Carboline 26 g / m ². Carbon spars is laid to the slots in the core. Carbon rowing for the spars is pre-stretched and uniformly impregnated into the machine. The spar wall of Carboline is integrated to the Rohacell core.
